An urban area is a city. A rural area is out in the country. The sun’s heat and light reach the city and the country in the same way. The difference in temperature between urban and less-developed rural areas has to do with how well the surfaces in each environment absorb and hold heat.

The OPU as it is fondly referred to, is an organization of Nde Owerre in the United States of America and comprised of Owerri Municipal, Owerri West, Owerri North and Ngor-Okpala Local Government Areas of Imo State of Nigeria. The Union has one goal in mind, and that is, the advancement of progress of Nde Owerre in Diasporas, and at home. The Union members are people endowed with incredible amount of respected men and women who saw differences of opinion as strength and not acrimony to destroy one another. The OPU believes strictly in the traditional values of respect to elders that Owerri People are noted for since the existence of Owerri. The OPU believes that five fingers are not equal, and as such, civility and decorum must be respected and uphold during deliberations in any Union\\'s business. The OPU believes that leadership is sacred and those entrusted to serve OPU audience must be respected in accordance with the biblical quotation that "respect must be accorded to those in authority."

The OPU will work in collaboration with the four local government area chairmen of Owerri to make sure that Federal allocations to OPU areas are utilized judiciously with transparent recompense and accountability. The OPU believes that the dividends as a consequent for the creation of local government areas must be an overriding principles that guide the chairmen to serve their people with honor and integrity. The OPU is very much interested to know the projects funded with federal allocations to Owerri regions, especially the four local government areas. The OPU will utilize her resources within the Union to benefit our indigent families back home. The OPU would lobby the Imo State Government to utilize the federal grant she received due to the study by one of OPU\\'s finest, renowned and well-sought Biochemist, Chief Professor Alex D. Nwaozuzu Acholonu, to dredge and beautify Nwaorie River. The OPU is looking forward to a working relationship with one of her finest, the executive director of HIMM, Inc. and a professor of medicine, High Chief Kennedy Okere, M.D., Akaji Ogwu of Owerri West, in his yearly medical mission to Nigeria to provide free medical services to helpless Nde Owerre. One important issue to mention here is that OPU membership is individualized with no chapter affiliation.
