Goal of OPU
The goals and objectives of the union are simple: to enhance development and improve standard of living for Owerri people through OPU yearly medical mission to heal the sick and less privileged, work with the LGA chairmen to ensure that federal grants to the areas are judiciously spent, re-vitalize infrastructures and engage in constructive political processes. The OPU is a union of progress-minded NDE OwerrI who truly love their homeland and wants to do something about it. The era of lip services are no more. OPU is synonymous to its motto: "Ala RI NMA.".

This is to announce to Owerri communities the newly constituted OPU, inc. U.S.A as a premiere organization for NDE Owerri in the United States of America. The union is comprised with Owerri municipal, Owerri west, Owerri north, Ikeduru, Mbaitoli and Ngor-Okpala local government areas.
