THE ACADEMIC PATHFINDER FINALLY HANGS HIS CLASSROOM CHALK

There is a saying in life that whatever has a beginning must surely come to an end. This philosophical saying could be attributed to many facets of human existence...some could be to a violent end; whereas others are the end of Draconian era where the governed celebrates the much needed exit that brings calamity, pains and sufferings, deaths and destruction of human dignity.

This particular exit marks the true definition of public service of OPU Heavyweight to humanity in the fields of education, science explorations and invention, and human capital in machination to enlighten the world. I am referring to a Godly gentleman with a perfect score of 100% on a scoreboard. Now, let me introduce to you the main actor of this write-up and one of the founders of Owerri Progressive Union, Inc, USA & Canada. Before I do so, it is with the utmost respect and privilege to inform you that after a little half a century, an award-winning Professor of Science, a Scientist of great repute in the name of Professor Emeritus, Sir Chief Alex Wozuzu Acholonu is retiring from classroom, but not from other life's activities. This energetic Professor is not slowing down from speaking engagements. This man is indeed a "Real Deal and Centerfold of Excellence."

Before I proceed with this successful write-up tribute that is filled with God Almighty and His blessings, I want to state unequivocally that Ndaa Alex as l fondly call him did not ask or encourage me to write on his behalf. I am doing so on my own accord to honor one of the finest and brilliant mind I have ever encountered. I decide to honor this Great Son of Awaka/Owerri for many reasons. His humility is second to none with a very brilliant smile that knows no bound. Irrespective of being an academic giant and a scientific luminary, he humbles himself like a lad with all due respect, Sir. He is extremely committed in his cause that earned him a deserving Officer of the Order of the Niger, an award personally bestowed on him by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mathew Olusegun Obasanjo. His Owerri Community at home honored him with the title of "Ogbughorozo Ekwueme"...the Pathfinder and a man of his words...for others...a title that he gloriously deserve. Without any fear of contradiction, I raise my shoulders very high to state very eloquently and loudly that had Owerri produces ten characters of his quality and caliber, the woes and plights of Owerri Nation would have been things of the past. He is indeed a "Gentle Giant" in character and in physical stature.

On a personal note...as eminent as Ndaa Alex, he calls me from time to time to wish me and family well. I will not devour my personal conversations with him, but he deeply believes that Owerri needs my person at home for governance. This is another topic altogether. This is time around; it is all about Ndaa Alex and his monumental accomplishments and not about Mazi Otulle.

Ndaa Alex came to America and spent one full month on a ship in his quest for academic laurels and he rightly achieved it to the core. I learnt about this in my previous conversations. His life outside classroom is like dancing an Owerri famous "Kokoma" on a platter of Gold. His heart, body and soul are fresh to fellow human beings like new yam tendrils and freshly harvested "Ji Ohuru" (New Yam) during rainy season. His kind-hearted salutations are as fresh and berry fruits. A man of one wife with dignity and commitment to his family, he profoundly understand the true meaning of family structure as the greatest institution ever created by God Almighty. Professor Acholonu was honored by his CKC Old Boys at Onitsha and named a Science Bloc in his honor while he is living.

So on April 25, 2018, his school, Alcorn State University, in the Great State of Mississippi, United States, is throwing a retirement party for him. At the same time, this Honorable man lunches another of his many new books to mark an era of well-fulfilled dreams.

My dear wife, Lady Nkechi "Nky" likes Professor Acholonu a lot.. She admitted to me that "the man is humble to a fault." She salutes Professor Acholonu and asked me to convey her undiluted respect and love for him. She wishes Ogbughorouzo Ekwueme well. Ndaa Alex...you heard me right. I had and continue to work with this academic heavyweight in many ways and I graciously find him to be as clean as whistle and a complete gentleman of high repute. Professor Acholonu shall never railroad anyone for selfish aggrandizement. He calls red, black and white exactly how he see it. So Nnamukwu, I greet you...I salute you...I honor you and I wish you well in your retirement.

In 2016, I published the article below to honor this man. I have tremendous amount of admiration "toward you, Ndaa Alex"...this you know from your heart as you always communicate your feelings toward me. You have done well, Sir. Enjoy the rest of your life for God Almighty is with you all the way...Men and women of goodwill...place your call to honor this Citizen of the World, Citizen of Nigeria, Citizen of Imo State, Citizen of Owerri, Citizen of Awaka, and above all, an accomplished and Proud Igbo man...I am done, Sir, from the heart of my inner self.

Ndewo daa...Sir!

Fondly and freshly evermore,

Sir (Mazi) Henry Otulle Eke, KSC

Austin, Texas
